Trail Blazing The Highways Of Her Life and Brand…

Interviewed By Lissha Sadler

Born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Statesboro, Tereion Henry graduated from Claflin University summa cum laude in just three years with a degree in Public Relations. She is a serial entrepreneur and social media influencer who started her own trucking company called Blu Transportation. Due to her overly ambitious personality, she created multiple subsidiaries to Labeled Blu Transportation, as well as an introductory virtual course into the trucking industry. Tereion has been afforded the opportunity to reach the masses and provide the flexibility that is essential to today’s world, especially during this pandemic. Although social media may see her as a sexy influencer, Tereion is determined to leave her mark as an entrepreneur and to teach other women how to tap into the world of entrepreneurship.

LS: Welcome! Now Tereion, you have inspired so many to pursue their vision, tell me what inspired your journey?

TH: The first company that I started actually was the transportation company, Labeled Blu Transportation. I had been working as a government contractor during my first deployment in Afghanistan. I was young and making a lot of money, but I was also a single mother learning how to balance the two. My mom encouraged me to make some better decisions and buy a truck. So that’s what I did. And that’s how I got started. Now I own the Southern Hospitality Adult Daycare Facility, Labeled Blu Collections and Labeled Blu Realty.

LS: What was the inspiration behind the other three companies?

TH: My mom has been in the beauty industry for over 30 plus years now. So fashion, hair, makeup and clothes have always spoken to me. With the realty company, I pretty much have always wanted to get into real estate. It just so happened that one of my favorite cousins and now business partner, had been doing it for about 15 years in Atlanta. So I kind of took his cue on that one. For Southern Hospitality, it’s kind of something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I never had the direction. So my mom and I decided to open up a daycare facility to help the community.

LS: Who was your biggest supporter throughout your journey? And why is it important to have a strong support system?

TH: My mom. We are like two peas in a pod and I love it. It’s important because you can’t do everything yourself; you will run yourself crazy trying to. As entrepreneurs we have a mentality of just making it happen, but you are running yourself in the ground. You have to have someone to bounce different ideas off of. From the emotional aspect of being an entrepreneur, or anyone that wants to follow their dreams, it comes with a lot of ups and downs. So a good solid support system will help you maneuver.

LS: Out of all of your brands, where does your passion lie?

TH: That is a hard one. My passion lies with all of them. Labeled Blu Collections allows me to have a freedom of expression through my clothes. Fashion is what pushes our culture forward for men and women. I really enjoy the adult daycare facility, but to be honest, out of all of them, which is a big surprise to me, the transportation company is really becoming my baby. I have to invest more energy mentally, especially with me coming up with virtual courses, to assist other entrepreneurs that want to start their own trucking business. Really, it’s taken on a life of its own, and a lot of people are really interested in it, men and women. It’s becoming a fun venture.

LS: Tell us a little bit about your class.

TH: Over the years, I’ve received so many inquiries, from men and women, on how to start a trucking business. This course will cover how to start a business, the many trucking filings and requirements on the state and federal levels, and so much more. Blu Transportation Presents is going to assist young entrepreneurs. It’s filled with a lot of information that’s not on Google, the things that I have gone through as a truck driver and trucking business owner.

LS: In the season of COVID, how has it shaped your business?

TH: I know that COVID comes with a lot of emotional stress, a lot of people have lost loved ones. It’s changed a lot in how we communicate with each other. I was a government contractor, so I wasn’t able to go back due to the travel restrictions. And in six months, I went from a six figure income as a government contractor, pretty much to no income. COVID has changed the dynamic of entrepreneurship. It has crushed a lot of those businesses that couldn’t, or didn’t, want to provide online services. But for me, especially with the virtual courses, it seems like business has boomed. I really just channeled all of my energy into my businesses, and doors have opened for me.

LS: What do you think allows your brand to inspire so many?

TH: People have been inspired by my story and want to hear more. I think people find me relatable and I have a very big sense of humor. I love to crack jokes. A lot of people like to see my growth and they like to see the fact that I’m actually out here grinding and working for myself.

LS: So what’s next for your brand?

TH: I have a book coming out very soon. It is more in depth for those that are more advanced. in their business. I’m also planning a women and business retreat. I’m going to kick it off by Spring of 2021. I’m also working on doing my very first trucking seminar in February. So I have a full plate.
